Unlike models connected to a plumbed central heating system, an electric towel rail operates independently, making it a practical choice for year-round towel warming in bathrooms, en-suites, cloakrooms and utility rooms. When choosing an electric towel radiator, decide whether its main job is to warm and dry towels, contribute heat to the room, or both. Compare the manufacturer’s wattage with your room’s calculated heating requirement; a compact, low-wattage heated towel bar should not be assumed to heat an entire bathroom. Also check the height, width, projection and available wall space, leaving enough room for towels to hang comfortably.

Because electric towel rails work without a connection to central heating pipework, they are useful for renovations, extensions and rooms where installing new pipes would be inconvenient. Bathroom electrical work must follow the product instructions and applicable bathroom-zone and electrical safety requirements, so arrange installation by a suitably qualified electrician.
